![]() Martin Geuß has now reported on German site Dr Windows that Microsoft wants to give companies a little more time to make the switch. It smells of "planned, unplanned" chaos during the changeover to the new Microsoft Teams 2.0 client. ![]() In the meantime, the pressure from large companies on Microsoft regarding the inadequacies of the new Teams 2.0 client seems to have become immense. At the time, Microsoft called on companies to force the switch to the new Teams 2.0 client. Here in the blog, I have discussed some of the "aches and pains" that plague users of the new Microsoft Teams 2.0 client (see links at the end of the article).Īt the beginning of January 2024, I reported in the blog post Microsoft says, Teams 2.0 migration is to slow 2/3 still on old client reported that around 2/3 of Teams users had so far refused to switch to the new client. But this changeover is unlikely to be really smooth. A little more time to switch …ġ April 2024 would then be a big month, Microsoft would be rid of the old Teams 1.0 client and the administrators would only have new Teams 2.0 clients to manage. ![]() I addressed this in the article Microsoft Teams: Clients older than 3 months will no longer work from April 2024. ![]() I reported on this in the article New Microsoft Teams 2.0 client mandatory from April 1, 2024.Īnd then there was the notice from Microsoft that according to the Modern Lifecycle Policy, the Microsoft Teams 2.0 client is no longer supported in versions older than 3 months. Microsoft had probably published a corresponding entry in the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre. Administrators in corporate environments would then no longer be able to control whether users should still use the old Teams client or the new version 2.0. However, Microsoft has been spreading the message for some time now that the new Teams 2.0 client will be mandatory in companies from 1 April 2024 and the switch will be forced. Since then, there have been an increasing number of reports from users about problems and shortcomings (see links at the end of the article). After a beta phase that started in spring 2023, Microsoft has generally released its Teams 2.0 client for macOS and Windows since autumn 2023. Microsoft Teams is a rewarding topic for bloggers. ![]() New Teams 2.0 client soon to be mandatory? ![]()
